This Does Not Suck!
I’ve been remiss and we have been busy the last few days. Our journey on Azamara Journey ended today in Papeete, Tahiti. That, however, does not mean the overall journey has ended. We are now checked in to our overwater bungalow.
Let me tell you, this DOES NOT SUCK!
The last few days amazed us! Short of having the outrigger canoes sailing out to meet us and Mr. Roberts on the bridge, these are amazing islands and exactly as you might expect. The only other thing missing was someone singing Bali Ha’i. The water and the views are stunning and the people, friendly.
We rented an electric clown car (my friend Chris called it the Pope mobile) in Bora Bora and drove around the island. I am no longer a small guy and I have to tell you once I squeezed in, the car did well! We also visited an establishment named “Bloody Mary’s.” I’m afraid their drink did not live up to their name. All in all, though, a really nice day.
Journey’s White Night party was in the evening and it, as always, was great fun … until the sky decided to wash the boat with a major downpour. Still fun though.
Yesterday was Moorea and we truly would struggle to say we have not seen something more beautiful. It simply was stunning. We took a nice “alternate” tour to see the sites. It’s a 35-mile drive around the island. There really are no words to describe the beauty.
We’re now here in Papeete until Saturday and then, with United’s cooperation, we’re flying home. I’m sitting on the deck, looking right across the ocean to Moorea, which is only about 10 miles away and I’m thankful for this trip, the beauty and the experiences.
I probably have one more of these in me before we leave on Saturday. If not, I hope you’ve enjoyed the trip through our experiences.
