The Great Pita Bread Caper – Part Duex
History: During our late 2018 cruise on Azamara Quest and about midway through the cruise, staff asked for feedback so any concerns and/or issues could be addressed and corrected. In response, we mentioned that the hummus, which is one of Hillary’s favorite foods, was awesome, however, it would be nice to also have pita bread with the hummus. Suffice to say, from that point forward, Hillary received pita bread regardless of the dining venue. In fact, Nathan, the Executive Chef made a point of visiting with us and actually serving the pita bread. We believe there was a picture of Hillary in every galley!
Fast Forward: Yesterday morning (1/9/2020) Azamara did the same feedback request and we responded. This time, we mentioned that staff (bar and server) seemed a little “stand offish.” They weren’t quite as engaging. Oh, and she mentioned the hummus is wonderful and it would be nice if there was also pita bread. Remember, this happened yesterday morning. Early in the evening we decided to head back to the scene of the previous “Scone Emergency” to have a drink. We chose a table a little out of the way and something was different!
We noticed that the bar staff was paying a little more attention to us; in fact, one of the bar servers quickly stopped by and asked us if we wanted peanuts. That had not happened previously. Then, the sommelier stopped by our table twice to see how we were doing. Interesting!
The icing on the cake was dinner in Aqualina. Out of the blue comes the specialty dining manager to ask us how our day was and where we would be in the morning so he could make sure Hillary had pita bread. It is obvious they flagged our stateroom account. I almost fell out of my chair laughing. It’s awesome they are paying attention and it kind of makes me feel like I have a red dot in the middle of my forehead! On to Hilo tomorrow.
